Dear Relative and Friends

Please see below our guidance on admissions and visiting a Berkley Group Care and Nursing home.

The safety of our residents and staff is always our priority, newly admitted residents to our homes who are transferring from other care homes or service providers will no longer need to self-isolate upon arrival. Our new residents can be admitted, and we encourage all to be fully vaccinated.

New residents joining a Berkley Care home:

To protect our current residents and staff, new residents are encouraged to be part of our on-going programme, consisting of a PCR test before admission (within 72 hours), a PCR test on the day of admission (day 0) and a further PCR test 7 days following admission (day 7). Additionally, a daily rapid lateral flow testing until the day 7 PCR result has been received.

Admissions from hospital

New residents discharged from hospital following an admission will be individually risk assessed and our team at the home will have a tailored Well-Being programme in place to ensure our new resident feels completely at home during this time. Visitors are welcome each day, an LTD will be required before each home visit.

The regular PCR and LFT stays in place for additional protection to all. There are no changes to PPE to be worn inside and we will continue to supply PPE on external trips out with family members and resident’s friends.

Visiting Residents

Each resident can have named visitors, we are continuing to offer our online visiting calendar for family members to book their visits.

Our visitors will be tested using rapid lateral flow tests on the day of every visit and produce a negative COVID test prior to their visit, either prior to arriving on site and registering their result (Government website) or upon arrival at our homes.

Every care home resident can choose to nominate an essential care giver who may visit the home to attend to essential care needs, please discuss this with our Home Managers for full guidance.

Care home professionals, contractors and other visitors will be required to show a vaccine passport via the NHS.

All staff at our homes can give evidence of a full vaccination passport and encourage anyone visiting to continue the Covid vaccine and flu programme. All staff have a weekly PCR test and LFD twice a week, residents take a monthly PCR test.
