Life of a BCG Resident

JUDITH’S DIARY: A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PORTOBELLO PLACE RESIDENT

I’ll Come to Your Place

  1. “I’m sorry I couldn’t speak to you I was just busy!”

Many of our residents have always led busy, active lives and we don’t see why that should change when they join our community – regardless of whether they are a long-term resident or staying with us temporarily to receive respite care.  With a whole range of activities on offer on both a daily and weekly basis – as well as a full events schedule and frequent day trips – there’s never a dull moment at Leycester House!

  1. “I was in the hairdressing salon when you rang…”

We all know that looking good is part of feeling well, so with that in mind, we offer a whole host of health care treatments to cater for all of our residents’ needs.  Fancy a hair wash and blow dry, or feel the need for a massage?  Pop into our salon and our health care professionals will make you feel like a million dollars!  Or perhaps your feet need a bit of TLC, in which case we have regular chiropodist visits.  Should any of our residents need support or advice on issues such as mobility and posture, our physiotherapist is on hand to help.  All of our healthcare services contribute towards our overarching ethos of encouraging residents to live as independently as they wish and have the time of their later life!

  1. “…then I went to exercise, then it was art class, then I was playing tennis…”

Continuing to engage with hobbies and staying active is hugely beneficial to a person’s physical and mental wellbeing and there are lots of activities to keep residents busy at Leycester House!  Whether you or your relative already enjoy a certain hobby, or are looking to try something new, there’s plenty to choose from, including art and crafts, music, games, outdoor activities and even a virtual hot air balloon ride – to name but a few!  There are also lots of exercise classes tailored to keep residents fit and active; and when you’ve done all of that, why not sit back and relax in our bistro bar, or enjoy a film in the cinema room?  There really is something for everyone to enjoy at Leycester House.

  1. “Then she said ‘I think I’ll come to your place’”

We pride ourselves on offering luxury, high quality residential care where our residents can live happily and live well.  We recognise that seeing family and friends regularly is an important part of that, so they will always receive a very warm welcome at Leycester House.  Visitors can see their loved ones with the added peace of mind that we continue to follow the recommended COVID-19 safety measures to keep everyone safe.   As well as receiving a warm reception on arrival, family and friends are also welcome to sample our culinary delights too.  Share a delicious meal prepared by our team of talented chefs, catch up over a laid-back drink in our stylish bistro bar or have a leisurely afternoon tea in one of our outdoor living areas – the choice is yours!  We can even host a celebration meal for residents and their families in one of our private dining rooms, so whatever the occasion, why not come to our place this summer?
