Leycester House team updates
Just in time for Father's Day, we’ve been hearing the pitter patter of tiny feet here at Leycester House recently, and it’s with great pleasure that we can announce the safe arrival of not one but two babies!

Three of our wonderful carers have gone on maternity leave and we’re delighted to say that Jessica Kershaw has had a little baby boy, Jessica McCluskey has had a little baby girl and we’re all waiting to hear of the save arrival of Emma’s bundle of joy.

We welcomed our new beauty therapist, Sonia, to the team – the residents are thrilled that Sonia is here with us and her luxury facials are proving very popular in the spa.

You might have seen a few new faces on all floors, and we’d like to take the opportunity to welcome them all to the Leycester House Team!

Something spooky caught on camera this week in Warwick…
Earlier this year, the BBC announced that “a three-part special, a unique and original take on Charles Dickens’ iconic ghost story” was on its way – and the new adaptation of the timeless classic ‘A Christmas Carol’, written by Steven Knight, is being filmed right here in Warwick!

Starring Guy Pearce, Andy Serkis, Stephen Graham and Charlotte Riley, and being produced by FX Productions, Scott Free, Hardy Son & Baker for BBC One, there’s no doubt that this will be a very special adaptation indeed.

Leycester House took its name from the Lord Leycester Hospital in Warwick, and the hospital has so far been one of the main buildings used for filming, with a whole section of the town having been transported back to the 1800s.

Piers Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama, said: “We’re incredibly excited that filming has begun on Steve Knight’s brilliant interpretation of A Christmas Carol, with Nick Murphy directing a phenomenal cast in what promises to be an iconic version of the classic tale.”

Steven Knight: “This production of A Christmas Carol will respectfully present what we believe to be a timely interpretation of a timeless story.”

To see a few photos of filming so far, have a look at this article on the Leamington Courier website.

On Tuesdays of late, our talented kitchen team headed up by our chef, Melissa, have been creating themed menus! So far, we have had Spanish, Mexican, Chinese and Indian, but the most popular was the Italian, with everyone really enjoying pizza for supper.

What's the weather?
In readiness for this month, Ilknur, a member of our activities team, has been thinking of all sorts of June-themed ideas. In keeping with the changeable British weather, Ilknur suggested rounding up some of our residents’ favourite weather-related songs for a good old singsong, as well as weather crafts and garden activities with Jan!
