Last Friday marked World Alzheimer’s Day, so we celebrated at Leycester House with a proper party. As we all know, dementia is one of the biggest challenges we face around the world, so we believe that helping to raise money to support research and campaigning is a good way to go.

It was a fun afternoon for everyone involved, with live music from Betsy from a bygone era here at Leycester House to entertain us all – Betsy sang Swing, Jazz, Blues, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Wartime, Music Hall and more, putting on a tremendous performance. We also held a charity raffle, served non-alcoholic cocktails, cupcakes and nibbles.

The home was full of love and laughter, with lots of residents, their family members and friends all having a great time singing along and chatting together, with about 50 people here in total! And we made the conscious decision to hold our celebrations on the second floor of the home to ensure that all our residents living with dementia could participate.

It really was a great event, thank you to everyone who came and contributed.
